Warm Awakening

Lately Ethan really enjoys laying on my chest when he sleeps. If he's in bed with us at night come morning he'll slide his way onto my chest and quickly fall back to sleep, it's his way of letting me know he's not quite ready to wake up yet and I'm happy to comply. This morning was no different. Ethan made his way onto my chest and there we lay, content as ever...... until I felt a very warm something make it's way from my midsection, down my side and onto the bed. Yes..... my son leaked on me. Time to get up!!!!
Ah the joys of motherhood.

Weekend Excursion

We ran our first 10K of the summer down in Pasadena last Saturday. It was the perfect day for a run and I even ran it in my best time, 1hour 3minutes. Trent did awesome considering he was only able to run one of the 10K's last year. He finished at 58 minutes. Nice!

My boys look good next to a Ferrari.

It's so fun to bring the babies I love our train of strollers.

Ethan fell asleep on our way over to the starting line and slept for the first half of the race. Once he woke up he just enjoyed the ride.
Saturday's run has me so pumped to keep on running and even more excited for nice enough weather to run outside with Ethan. *sigh* Just a few more weeks left of winter.... I hope.

Sunday Tradition

Since I can remember my Dad has been in the habit of making cookies every Sunday and last night he asked Ethan to help. Hooray cookies!

Needless to say it was a tasty and sugar filled experience for our 18 month old.

Bubbles

I have recently learned that Ethan has a new fettish and it cracks me up! We were over at my parents' house on Saturday night when Ethan hands me a bottle of bubbles that my parents had evidently bought for him. The link below pretty much display how he responds to bubbles.

He's hilarious! He totally starts to do this little dance of anticipation as I open the bottle and then in between bursts of bubbles he can't stand the wait!
I love our little man.

TGIF

What a week. In fact it all started last Saturday. I've just had a few days where I'm inexplainably moody (no, I'm not pregnant. really. I just had a pregnancy test done yesterday and it was negative. And I was sad.). Monday was another one of those days. Except Monday I could explain why I was moody. I've been weening Ethan from nursing and I'm down to just once a day. Because I've been weening him I'm not producing the milk I used to so if he wakes up at night it's not as easy for him to nurse himself back to sleep cause he's not able to get a good tummy full of milk. Sunday night he fell asleep on the way home from Idaho Falls and we were sure he was down for the night. Midnight he wakes up, I think no big deal I'll nurse him back to sleep. But since he couldn't be satisfied he decided it would just be better to stay up. I got to bed about 4:30 that night. So needless to say I slept in the next morning. About 11:30 I'm up and going and I'm a little stressed out because my whole morning is shot and I've got tons to do. Meanwhile Trent is giving Ethan a haircut. Haircut are often traumatizing because the clippers we have are really loud. Ethan screams, cries, and even shakes because be hates it so badly. So Trent decided to try his beard trimmers. When the trimming stops I hear Trent say, "go show mommy!" and this is what I see when my baby boy comes running out (keep in mind my mood this particular morning.... not my usual self.):

Two guesses as to what my reaction.
Trent goes on to explain that the beard trimmers made it a wee bit shorter than he had intended so he decided to go ahead and play with it. If this has been a normal morning for me I would have laughed and loved it but as it was I was stressed, moody, and insensitive. As Trent proceeded to bath our newly balding beauty of a son the idea of the mohawk grew on me. I told Trent to leave it that I wanted the family to see it later that night. Trent thought that I said I didn't want the family to see it and when I returned to get Ethan he looked more like his dad than ever. Here he is with cousin Crew at cousin Lilly's birthday party later that night.

My bald and beautiful boys. :o)

A New Day Has Begun

Hooray for the fact that my father-in-law loves us! Hooray for the fact that he had a camera he doesn't use and wanted us to have! Hooray for the fact that my withdrawal can officially be declared as over! This picture is the first picture taken with said camera hence the accentuatedly happy look on my face! It is a new and beautiful day!!

*Recent pictures of Ethan coming soon*

Riddles and I and our Falling Out

Riddles and I have never been very good friends. I think a big part of it stems from my lack of confidence in that I've never felt like I was an incredibly clever or exceptionally smart individual. So when I receive a random phone call from my husband like the one just moments ago I am reminded of how much I need to recondition myself to be a better sport.
First he begins by telling me that his boss wanted him to call and give me this riddle, to see if the wife was as quick as the husband I'm sure. No pressure there. He then proceeds with the riddle and finishes by saying something to the effect of, Wayne has given it to multiple people throughout the day and it has taken them a really long time to figure it out so he's pretty proud of me because it only took me about 15 seconds. Again.... no pressure.
At this point I'm actually feeling pretty confident that I'll be able to respond quickly because it doesn't seem all too tricky. I call him back just a minute or two later with my response only to be told I was wrong. I re-vamp and call a second time only to be told I was once again wrong and then asked, "how are you coming up with those number?" Then proceeds my sweet husband's gentle coaching through the riddle which includes my reading it back to him the way I understand it, walking him through the steps that I've been taking, only to once again be told, "you're missing something there," all the while being reminded that there are no tricks to this riddle, stick to the numbers and you'll get it.
By this point I'm already feeling stupid because I've failed the employers expectations and I'm ready to simply be told the answer. If any of you know my husband you know that he's not one to simply let me give up and be told, he would much rather encourage and help me discover the answer on my own. It's actually quite good for me but nevertheless I tend to want to give in the higher power (my husband) and simply let the games be done. He wasn't going to let me do that.
"Here what I want you to do, I want you to draw a circle."
(exasperated sigh)
"What's wrong?"
"I already feel really dumb."
"Sweetheart, Wayne has told multiple people this today and it has taken them forever!"
"K, I'm drawing a circle."

A helpful walk through and 90 seconds later I realize what it was I was missing/skipping over and my answer is correct. Thanks to a helpful and encouraging husband who refuses to let me give up on myself even when it involves something and minute as a riddle. It's a comfort to know that if he's not willing to let me give up on myself with the little things there's no chance in hades he'll let me give up on things when it really counts. Sure do love that man.

You're all wanting to know what the riddle is, huh?

There's a bus. On the bus are 7 girls. Each girl has 7 backpacks. Each back has 7 cats and each cat has 7 kittens. There is no driver. How many legs are on the bus?

Enjoy.
